phone charger

Postby wawhitey » 08 31, 2015 •  [Post 1]

I have a galaxy s4 and need some sort of charger for it, solar, battery, whatever. Ive found a way to hunt archery elk this year despite all the closures but it will require me to pack in and have a cold camp miles from my rig. Will need to keep my phone charged as it will be my alarm clock, and ill need it to call in a friend or two when i get a bull down! Can anyone suggest a good charging device, maybe with a link please?

I would get an external battery to charge your phone. Depending on size you can charge your phone 3 to 5 times and weight penalty is around 8 oz. If you go to Amazon check out the Anker 2nd Gen Astro E3 for $22. I do not have this 1 but have 1 similar. Work well and you can charge other items that charge via a USB cable such as a camera.

This thing is great. My friend works at Netflix and he says there is a vending machine full of them.

A FREE vending machine. He's pretty honest so I can't convince him to empty it for you guys. He gave me mine. Works for a GoPro too!

You shake it and that round light illuminates to indicate your available power level. Unmoved, it vanishes.

You shouldn't have to charge your phone if you disable the cell searching on it and turn off all unused apps. On my iPhone 4, I sim lock it. On my galaxy S5, I turn on Airplane mode and Location services.

I agree, airplane mode is your friend! but, if I was to spike camp it for a couple of days...... or, I found myself sending texts to the wife off and on, since my spot in Idaho had spotty cell service, plus playing solitaire during my lunch breaks, got it low by the time I got back to camp....
