Bow Vise

Postby Deafirishman » 05 23, 2015 •  [Post 1]

Looking at purchasing a bow vise. I have very little knowledge on these products so I am trying to expand my knowledge on these. I see the prices range from $35-350+. I do not want to spend my entire bank account on one. Just something simple and nothing fancy. I have been looking at American Archery Products but cannot find any reviews on their bow vises. I do see that the Apple vises are not real favorable due to the fact that most users have hard time tightening the knobs so the bow holds in place. That was the only downfalls on these types of vises.

I tried copying a link on to this thread but I cannot seem to get that to work. I am a little computer illiterate on that department for some reason

As always, thank you for the comments and advice. Much appreciated.

Find yourself a bolt that matches the stabilizer hole on the front of your bow. Put a jam nut on it and weld the bolt to a piece of metal. I used an old piece of T-post about 8-9 inches long. screw it into the stabilizer hole and make it any angle you want and tighten the jam nut to lock it in place. Next, I place the t-post end in my regular work bench vise.

Works like a champ and cost only pennies to make.

I think you're over thinking it. There's nothing wrong with a $35 Sure Grip. That's what I use. Serves the purpose. If I owned a pro shop and was servicing bows all the time I might want something that had more adjustable positions. But all I need is something to hold and rotate my bow so it isn't laying flat on a table.

Thanks guys. I just need something simple and nothing fancy. Just using for simple repairs and making sure all my axis' on my new MBG Ascent sight are in balance with my bow's riser ...
