finished my tri

Postby zpd307 » 07 27, 2014 •  [Post 1]

my longest triathlon so far, 1/3 iron man. 1 mile swim, 33 mile bike ride in 30-40 mile winds, and 9 miles running. I am exhausted.... I am pretty sure that I am mentally and physically ready for the elk woods in just over a month away. ;)

Very impressive hats off to you. I have a co-worker that's doing her first half in a few weeks. Pretty motivating watching her. I think it was about 6 weeks ago she blew up her ankle the day after she told me she only had like one or two days off before the end of August, and she pushed through it. She even ran a half marathon that next weekend with three missing tendons.

way cool !!!!
But dont get overly confident on the mental part

I always wanted to do tris when I was younger there just wasn't the organized events like there is now.
I did do a "Fun run" after the event, If I would have entered my time beat the best finisher. I did 5.23 run around a lake. I ran in 22.50 minutes , barefoot , the pavement was killer

I did do 3000feet up and then down this weekend and 8 miles, First time my hip felt like my hip and leg wasnt something alien. This week Il try more distance

read loud and clear ;) I felt really good hiking in the big horns 2 weeks ago! the wife was complaining about her calves burning, mine felt awesome. she was sucking lots of wind, I was able to breathe pretty good. this was at 8500 ft. my butt hurt so bad from all the horse riding that I got off a few times and walked several miles and was able to keep up to the others who were still riding. we are heading out to your neck of the woods in a mere 9 days! I cant wait to see it in person..... in the mean time keep posting pics for me.

Be easy on your wife; going from 1800 feet to 7,000 -9,000 is tough for a lot of people

too funny ( from a cowgirls dads point )
Did you know that stirrups are made to take the weight off your rear as you ride.
This weekend I'm going huckleberry picking; ditching the inlaws and taking any of the nieces that want to pick with me to the location I shot my first Idaho rifle bull

Ill see if I can find the elk trees. Some old timers have been carving their initials and dates of elk kills in the area since the 60's, kind of cool stuff

I don't pretend to be an able horseman, still pretty much in my infancy.... plus my knees started hurting because my horse was a little wide in the barrel from all the green grass from this wet spring. I wasn't trashing on my wife, I was just trying to compare with someone who hasn't worked on getting ready for an elk hunt. feeling pretty good about what shape I am in! take some more pics of your berry picking adventure. I cant get enough of them!
